Sorry for the lack of updates over the last year or so, other pastimes have got in the way and i really hurt my typing finger – honest! Anyway its healing well, so I plan to get this site back running properly in time for the Festival rumour season. Look out also for my festival awards 2011 – abridged version. As always all contributions are welcomed as long as you aren’t selling something, breaching copyrights or are Gary Glitter. Please contact the site by email, and in the near future I hope to have the Twitter and Facebook stuff sorted. Who knows, we might even get round to having a forum. I’ll regularly update this feed to keep you informed on what’s been added to the site in terms of photos, archive reviews and features, plus other random goodies.
Its been a pretty quiet couple of weeks as far as major festival news is concerned, so its time to look ahead to a couple of the major UK festivals that are taking place this coming weekend. Firstly some sad news. Ex Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable has been found dead at his home in Wales. He was 40. As yet no cause of death has been identified. I remember Stuart ripping it up when the band were at their peak at Donington around 2001 and again at Glastonbury a year later. Peace and Love would like to send condolences to his family. RIP Stuart. Read the rest of this entry »
The Wickerman is an excellent festival which offers something a little different to all other festivals, even Glastonbury. Where else could you drink bottles of fine Belhaven ale, whilst munching on haggis, neeps, and tatties, watching a Rabbie Burns marathon poetry reading session? The line up is always eclectic and this year sees no exception. Read the rest of this entry »
For anyone still tempted by Europe’s biggest tribute band festival, tickets are still available for Glastonbudget to be held over this weekend’s bank holiday. Tickets are only available from this phone number 01162 698807. There are loads of new bands playing across 3 stages but the real attraction is the tribute band stage which this year sees the following line up. Read the rest of this entry »
Welcome to a slightly new style of news, where we pick up some highlights of the current festival week. These round ups will replace many of the one off news stories that appear here. Although we have had major news stories about most of the UK festivals for 2010, this year’s Reading and Leeds Festivals have gone a little under the radar so far, but no more shall you fear. Read the rest of this entry »
As predicted by this site, Orbital will close the Sunday night on their spiritual home, The Other Stage as the Glastonbury Festival. They appear alongside the previous headliners U2, Muse and Stevie Wonder. In addition to previous rumours, Peace and Love now reckons Faithless and Gorillaz may both be making an appearance over the weekend. Keep abreast of the latest rumours and lineups Here
We don’t want this site to be just about the biggest festivals. Some of my most memorable times have come at the smaller less manic events staged around the UK and Europe. As there are hundreds of these, we will be posting a monthly roundup of significant news from the best of these, and try to tempt you out for an event of two. And don’t forget if you have an event organised you would like us to feature please use the comments box below the article to let us all know. All publicity is good publicity, especially when it’s free. So lets kick off with some recent news. Read the rest of this entry »

You don’t need a beard to get into the Bearded Theory Festival but it probably helps. An attempt will be made at this festival to break the world record for the most number of people wearing false beards in one place. Read the rest of this entry »

Peace and Love would like to congratulate Jon and Tracy Morter for taking the fight for real music to Simon Cowell and the X Factor concept and winning. Respect is also due to everyone who signed up to the Facebook campaign and downloaded ‘Killing in the Name’, thus making it the first ever Xmas number one of a download only single. The single eventually outsold the X Factor winner Joe McElderry’s effort ‘The Climb’ by around 50000 copies. Fair play to Cowell, he took defeat with good grace which is more than Arsene Wenger would do. Rage against the Machine probably can’t quite take in what has happened over the past couple of weeks, they seem genuinely shocked by events, though they say they will soon play a free UK show to thank the fans for buying the single. We will keep you informed of these developments.
