Its been a pretty quiet couple of weeks as far as major festival news is concerned, so its time to look ahead to a couple of the major UK festivals that are taking place this coming weekend. Firstly some sad news. Ex Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable has been found dead at his home in Wales. He was 40. As yet no cause of death has been identified. I remember Stuart ripping it up when the band were at their peak at Donington around 2001 and again at Glastonbury a year later. Peace and Love would like to send condolences to his family. Lemmy – 63 and still doing it

This was one of those shows when you wonder just how many folk would turn up. One of the great rock bands of all time, one of the great punk bands of all time and the original all girl metal band all under one roof, but in truth all rather trading on past glories. We need not have worried, the Apollo is packed, its a raucous Saturday night and we await entertainment of the heaviest kind.

30 Years of Heavy Metal

To celebrate 30 years of metal it looks like Download have jumped onto the Early bird ticket bandwagon.

Now on sale, standard weekend arena tickets for the 2010 Download Festival will be available at £135. Standard and family camping tickets will stay at £25 for Friday, Saturday, & Sunday, however if you do wish to arrive early on the Wednesday or Thursday there will be an additional charge of £10. Early bird prices are available until Christmas.
